Fondant Heart Cake
This cake was fun to make, but it did not come out as planned. The plan was to cover the cake in white fondant and pink and white buttercream roses and for the perfect Valentine cake. The problem was that we did not know how to make roses. We watched many You Tube videos in the hopes of learning, but roses take practice. So we made a new plan. Cover the cake in white fondant and embellish with fondant cut-outs.
Use your favorite cake and filling for the cake. I used Rose’s Carrot Cake from Rose’s Heavenly Cakes and a standard cream cheese frosting that I jazzed up with cinnamon.
Fill and crumb coat your cake and set aside while you roll out your fondant. Cover the cake in fondant. Then roll out contrasting fondant colors for the small cut-outs for the rest of the decorating. Place the shapes randomly on the cake for a casual look.
